"Handmade" indicates that a workshop is directly involved in the manufacturing process. It tells a story of craftsmanship, but it is not enough to determine if the soap will suit you.
1. Which steps are performed in the workshop?
Ask who formulates, mixes, molds, cuts, and monitors the batches. At MÂPÔ, our soaps are made in the Hérault region using the cold process saponification method. You can discover the manufacturing steps without needing a technical course.
2. Do tools negate the "handmade" aspect?
No. A scale, a mixer, or a soap cutter are used to work with precision. "Handmade" does not mean "made without equipment." What matters is the reality of the work performed in the workshop.
3. Why might two soaps differ?
A cut or a color may vary slightly from one bar to another. This can happen in batch production. But an irregularity is not proof of quality: the weight, the formula, and the label must remain controlled.
4. Is it necessarily gentler or more natural?
No. A handmade soap may be scented or unscented, and may or may not contain essential oils. To choose, always look at the specific formula. The word "artisan" does not guarantee a specific result on your skin.
5. What should you check before buying?
