The INCI list is the complete list of ingredients. It allows you to verify the composition, beyond the name written on the front.
1. Finding the right list
Look for "Ingredients" on the packaging or the product sheet for the exact reference. An old photo might show a different version: prioritize the label of the received product and contact the brand in case of discrepancies.
2. Recognizing oil names
Some names refer to ingredients after they have been turned into soap: Sodium Olivate, for example, refers to a soap made from olive oil. This is not the same as reading a recipe for raw oils.
3. Understanding the order
Ingredients are generally listed in descending order of weight at the time they were added. Those present at less than 1% may then appear in a different order. The list therefore does not reveal the exact percentages.
4. Searching for a specific ingredient
If you know of an ingredient to avoid, search for its exact name. For fragrance and essential oils, use the guide dedicated to identifying them.
5. Knowing where to stop reading
The INCI provides information on the composition, not the quality of the manufacturing process or your personal tolerance. It is also not enough to demonstrate the effectiveness of the finished product.
Key takeaway. Keep this list to compare or to ask the brand a specific question. The MÂPÔ selection guide will then point you toward the right products.
